Shannon Bushnell

Shannon D. Bushnell has been a stylist in Portland, Oregon since 2004 and has worked at the Parlour St. Johns since 2009. A curly hair specialist with a BA in fine art, Shannon treats each curly client with an individual and sculptural approach. She utilizes an emphasis on communication and the understanding that curls are an ever-changing, natural barometer which require different treatment under different circumstances. Shannon tailors the cut, color and hair care to the individual needs of her broad clientele. She loves a good precision cut, too, and can wrangle any hair type or texture.

A strong background in and knowledge of color theory support her hair-coloring skill set. She works with the philosophy that healthy hair is beautiful hair and will ensure that the integrity of the hair determines the end result of the services provided. Recently, Shannon has focused on perfecting her barbering skills, offering tight fades, line work, straight razor detail (not hot towel shaves… sorry, fellas) and modern classic men’s styles.

In her spare time, Shannon runs away to the coast with her dog friend Jack who likes to chase gulls and waves and forgets that he is 13. She volunteers at a wildlife rehabilitation center, writes poems and takes photos for fun, and loves music. She also reads tarot cards, studies astrology and is an Usui Reiki Master. She has been a St. John’s resident since 2005.
